GCSE Business Studies Tutors
Four specialist Business tutors, all teaching the AQA course and one of them Edexcel. Lessons work from past papers and real mark scheme feedback.
Six things a general tutor will not give you.
Business looks easy because the words are familiar. The marks come from applying them to one particular company under time pressure, which is a different skill.
GCSE Business Studies at a Glance
GCSE Business is graded 9 to 1. There are no tiers, so every student sits the same paper and the whole grade range is open.
AQA sets two written papers. Each lasts 1 hour 45 minutes, carries 90 marks, and is worth half the grade.
Paper 1 covers operations and people. Paper 2 covers marketing and finance. Both mix short answers with case study questions.
Every Business Topic We Cover
The six topic areas on the AQA course. Edexcel divides them differently but examines the same ideas, so lessons map across either way.
Practice From Real Business Papers
Lessons work through genuine past papers and their mark schemes, not imitation questions written to look like them.
AQA GCSE Business
Two papers of 1 hour 45 minutes, 90 marks each. Paper 1 covers operations and people. Paper 2 covers marketing and finance.
Edexcel GCSE Business
A similar two-paper shape with different topic grouping and question wording. Tutors teach to the paper your child will actually sit.
Marked as an examiner would
Answers come back against the real criteria, so we catch an explanation that never reaches the case study.
Break even and cash flow
Number questions pulled from several years of papers, so we fix a weak method rather than revisit it once.
Exam technique
Decoding command words, structuring 6-mark answers, and timing, the marks students leave on the table.
An hour built around the marks your child is losing.
We start from the mark scheme, not the next chapter
Your tutor marks a recent paper first and finds whether the problem is application, calculation or judgement. We build the lesson from that.
Answered live, then marked
Students write the longer answers in the lesson and watch them marked, so the gap between knowing and scoring closes.
A new case study weekly
Each lesson uses a business the student has not seen, because that is exactly what the exam will do.
Who Would Teach Your Business Studies Lessons

Where Business Marks Are Really Lost
Most lost marks come from answers that could describe any company, calculations without working, and long answers that never reach a decision.
Answers that fit any business
The marks are for applying the point to the firm in the case study. A general answer about "customers" scores the lowest band.
Calculations without working
Method marks are awarded for the steps. A wrong final figure with correct working still scores; a bare wrong answer does not.
No judgement reached
Justify and evaluate questions need a decision supported by a reason. Listing advantages and disadvantages alone caps the mark.
Command words misread
State, explain and justify each want a different length and shape of answer. Students lose marks answering the wrong one well.
You See Every Business Lesson
A single test score says little in this subject. These four reports show which skill is moving and which is not.
- Notes after every lesson
- Topic checklist, red to green
- Monthly progress report
- A recording of each lesson

GCSE Business Studies Questions
There are no tiers, so what decides the grade?
Every student sits the same paper and the full 9 to 1 range is open. The grade comes from the band each answer reaches.
Which boards do your Business tutors teach?
All four teach the AQA course and one also teaches Edexcel. Each profile lists the boards that tutor covers, subject by subject.
My child revises the definitions and still loses marks.
Definitions earn the first mark only. The rest is applying them to the company in front of them, which needs case study practice.
Is the maths in this subject difficult?
No, but it is examined. Break even, cash flow and margins come up regularly and reward a reliable method more than quick arithmetic.
What is the usual weekly commitment?
One 60-minute lesson weekly suits most students. Two is common in the term before the exam, or after a weak mock.
Do you help with the longer evaluation questions?
Yes. They carry the most marks and are the most teachable, because the shape of a strong answer rarely changes.
