Subjects

Which GCSE Subjects Do Our Tutors Teach?

GCSE Tutors covers 22 GCSE subjects. The largest tutor teams teach Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. AQA offers over 70 GCSE subjects in total. If your subject is not listed below, our team can still find you a specialist.

Our subjects fall into five groups.

  • Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Combined Science and Computer Science
  • Maths: GCSE Maths and Further Maths
  • English: Language and Literature
  • Humanities: History, Geography, Business, Economics, Psychology, Sociology and Religious Studies
  • Languages: French, Spanish, German, Mandarin, Arabic and Italian

GCSE Maths Tutors

Our GCSE Maths tutors teach the AQA and Edexcel courses at both tiers. They show students where marks slip away, like missing working or rounding too early. Strong students can also prepare for Level 2 Further Maths.

GCSE Science Tutors

Our science tutors cover Biology, Chemistry and Physics, alone or as Combined Science. Lessons focus on the skills examiners reward most: command words, data questions, graphs and practical write-ups. These are the areas where many students lose easy marks.

GCSE English Tutors

Our English tutors help with reading comprehension, creative writing and literature essays. Students learn to plan quickly, explain a writer's choices and write clear paragraphs under time pressure. We teach both English Language and English Literature.

Exam boards

Which GCSE Exam Boards Do We Teach?

How it works

How Does Online GCSE Tutoring Work?

Online GCSE tutoring at GCSE Tutors takes three steps. Share your subject and exam board. Meet a matched specialist tutor. Then start weekly one-to-one lessons in Tuitional's online classroom. Most families are matched with the right tutor within one day.

The three steps look like this.

  1. 01

Tell us the subject, board and target grade

  2. 02

Meet your matched tutor in your first lesson

  3. 03

Start weekly lessons with a clear study plan

Lessons run live in Tuitional's online classroom, with a shared whiteboard. Tutors and students can draw diagrams, work through equations and mark past papers together. Every lesson is recorded, so your child can watch hard topics again before the exam.

Foundation vs Higher

Should Your Child Take Foundation or Higher GCSE?

In GCSE Maths, Sciences and some languages, students sit either Foundation or Higher papers. Foundation papers cap the grade at 5. Higher papers run from 4 up to 9. So the tier choice sets the highest grade possible.

Our tutors look at mock results and help you choose the right tier with your school. Most A-Level courses in Maths and Sciences expect at least a grade 6, which means sitting the Higher papers.

Timing

When Should You Start GCSE Tutoring?

The best time to start GCSE tutoring depends on how close the exams are. This guide shows what lessons should cover at each stage of the two-year course. It runs from early Year 10 to the final eight weeks.

When you startWhat lessons focus on
Start of Year 10 (Grade 9)Build strong basics and fix gaps from earlier years.
Middle of Year 10 (Grade 9)Learn new topics and practise short exam questions every week.
Start of Year 11 (Grade 10)Finish the syllabus and begin timed past paper practice.
During mock exam season at schoolUse mock results to target the weakest topics first.
In the final eight weeksFull past papers, mark schemes and exam timing practice.

Starting early costs less overall. Even eight weeks of focused lessons can make a real difference.
