Alexandria GCSE Tutoring, With Nothing Hidden

Choosing a tutor from a website is mostly guesswork. These are the questions that actually separate providers, and our answers to every one of them.

Three Questions That Separate Providers

Every tutoring site claims expert tutors and proven results. None of that is checkable. These three questions are, and the answers vary enormously between providers.

Who, exactly

Ask for the name and degree of the person who would teach. A provider that will not say before payment is telling you something.

Checked how

Ask what a tutor had to pass. If the answer is a profile review and a chat, nobody has tested whether they can teach your subject.

Proof of what

Ask what arrives each week. Marks from timed questions can be checked. A claim about average grade improvement cannot.

What We Say to Each of Those Questions

Years 9 to 11

The named tutor

You get a name, a degree and the boards they teach before any payment. If they are not right, you say so and nothing has been spent.

Algebra and graphsCircle theoremsRatio and proportionProbability

Years 9 to 11

The four checks

A subject interview by a specialist, an observed lesson, a marking test against a real scheme, and a certificate check. All four, before teaching.

Cells and organisationForces and wavesRequired practicalsBonding and moles

Years 9 to 11

The weekly evidence

Written notes naming the topic, plus marks from timed questions against the published scheme. Numbers you can follow, not reassurance.

Thirteen Subjects, Named, Not Implied

We say thirteen GCSE subjects rather than claiming every subject exists. A provider listing thirty subjects with nine tutors is describing a hope, not a team.

Getting Answers Before Committing Anything

01

Ask the questions

Send the subject and ask whatever you want about tutors, checks and reporting. You are not agreeing to anything by asking.

02

See the person

Within 24 hours you get a named specialist and their background, so the answer stops being abstract.

03

Decide after that

Only then is there anything to agree. Most families decide at this point, with the name in front of them.

Testing Three Options Against Those Questions

Run the same three questions past every option. A marketplace cannot answer the first, a centre struggles with the third, and both should be asked anyway.

What to Ask Before Paying Anyone

Why should we believe anything on this page?

Check it rather than believe it. Ask for a named tutor before paying, ask what they passed, and ask what arrives each week. Verifiable answers are the only ones worth having.

Everyone says their tutors are experts. How is that checkable?

It is not, so ask a different question. Ask what a tutor had to do to be hired, and what happens if they turn out to be wrong for your child.

What are you noticeably worse at than competitors?

Breadth. Thirteen subjects is fewer than the big marketplaces list, and we teach two exam boards rather than claiming all of them equally well.

Why is there no price on the website?

Because it depends on the subject, the year group and how many hours. Ask and you get a figure for your situation rather than one designed to look low.

What happens if the tutoring simply does not work?

We change the tutor at no cost, or tell you honestly that lessons are not the answer. Both happen, and the second is more useful than another invoice.

Can we see a report from a real student?

We will not share another family’s notes. You will see your own after the first lesson, which is a better test than a sample chosen to impress.

Are your reviews genuine?

They are from families we have taught, published with the name and city they gave us. These pages no longer quote third party review sites, so what you read here came to us directly.

How long before we know if it is working?

Four to six weeks in Maths, longer for essay subjects. If nothing has moved by then, something needs changing rather than extending.

Ask Us the Awkward Questions First

Send the subject and whatever you want to know about tutors, checks or reporting. Answers and a named specialist come back within 24 hours.

Asking commits you to nothing at all.
